Default Namecheap not cheap

Hello,

I am having big problems with namecheap. They lost the names I put in the nameservers pointing a domain name to hostgator.

I have been trying to get this domain to hostgator for over two weeks and this is the latest disaster with Namecheap.

Listen. I got another domain name from another vendor and the name was active in one day - how's that for service and it cost less than high, overly priced Namecheap, like $4.95. And acitve in a day.

Default godaddy

I use godaddy for them all. It is done in 5 minutes, then go to hostgator, create the new account, back to godaddy and change nameservers and in less than 30 minutes usually, I am up and running.

Sounds like a run of bad luck.

I have registered domains with namecheap and have a site up and running on that doamin within a matter of minutes.

I can hit the server the DNS is pointed to in a matter of seconds after changing the details in my namecheap account for that domain.

If the name is not active straight away something is going wrong.

Where did you get the domain for $4.95??

Thats seems extremely cheap. I'm pretty sure the fee's involved in a company selling you a domain name is more then that.

Hi Robert,

Got that domain here:

Netfirms - Web Hosting, Domain Names and E-commerce for Small Business

Looks OK, what do you think?

Looks pretty good.

Only a few catches.

Quote:
* Domain .com, .net and .org sale pricing is $5.95 for first year. Domain will renew at $9.95 per year thereafter.
Domain .biz and .info pricing is $9.95 per year.
Limit five $5.95 domain names per customer.
** Please note that, because external networks are involved, it may take a few hours for worldwide use.

Walt,

Namecheap support will help you. You are probably not completing part of the process to point your domain name to the domain host. I missed part of the process a couple of times. Don't wait more than a day to ask for support to help you.

George

Hi,

I think Namecheap is exonerated. The problem is Hostgator where I am having a password problem which may be my fault.

Hi,

We use moniker, not cheap. But domain up in 30 seconds flat.

Okay, we first make sure the domain is created on our server. But in moniker our account is set to point to our name servers. And when we register the domain in our moniker account the domain is active within 30 seconds.

They have good security measures installed. So we don't mind to pay a little more.

Just our 2 cents,
Michel
