Default NOOB - Name that Website

Let's assume this noob gets thru the installer, which is a big if from what I read. I'm stuck on MySQL - I don't know if my host supplies MySQL or whether I haqve to install it on my Mac - I am waiting for an e-mail from my host.

How do you decide on a website name for the wp blog. I know where you get them, but how do you name them. I think you want to use a long-tail keyword for your website name - is that correct? Or is a generic better? Like say your website is about aphrodisiacs, would you call it aphrodisiacs.com or some other keyword that is longer down on the tail - like aphrodisiacsfordingburgers.com?

IMO, I think shorter website name is much better than longer one as it is easy for people to remember. And when you name your site, it is better to have name that is related to your main keywords as it helps to a lesser extent in google ranking. I think aphrodisiacs.com is defintely better than aphrodisiacsfordingburgers.com (too long and confusing) to name your site.

Just my 2 cents worth.

Thanks Topgrade,

What about hypens in domain names- use them or lose them?

Does it matter - I understand sight impaired can understand the hypens via a voice synthesizer, but not the domain names without the hyphens.
