I have noticed that my blog started to make pingbacks to my posts and they are located in comments. They look like excerpts of actual posts. Take a look at it here: http://www.curehalitosisbadbreath.co...-smells-bad-9/ Would that benefit me in SEO purposes? Because if not, i want to know how i can disable pingbacks as it only makes my blog less user friendly. How can i disable pingbacks?

Hey Boris, Its under wordpress > Options > discussion This setting Allow link notifications from other blogs (pingbacks and trackbacks.) You can un-tick the box I have not heard of it hurting your purpose but its not really a natrual thing to have happen. I would disallow it, I am not even sure why your own blog is doing that. Regards Marc

Marc, Not sure if it has something to do with using quite an old version of wordpress?

My WordPress version is 2.0.2 I also tried to upgrade, but in newest 2.3 version i have often problem logging in with FireFox. It says i have not enabled cookies, however i can login easily from Internet Explorer. Usually i have trackbacks from other blogs, but i don't like that these trackbacks come from my own blog's posts too. They appear as excerpts and this looks like spam or not natural stuff. The comments are for people - not machines. Marc i would like to know how i can disable comments from my own blog, but those that are from other blogs - leave enabled. Is it possible to do?

| Boris Yo, From my experience, the only way to do this without totally disabling your other trackbacks is to manually delete them as they come in. This is what I do. These trackbacks have not hurt me in anyway. Although like you, it does get somewhat annoying after each post that I make. If you want to disable comments, you can go to Options>Discussions and deselect "anyone can post comments". If you have your comments moderated, you can manually delete them as they come in. | Guys, I really wouldn't bother about trackbacks and pingbacks. At the end of the day you should be spending more time writing great content and getting those all important inbound links to your site. |

Guys, if we have pingbacks on our blogs from OUR blogs to different posts in comment section, then why bother trying to modify posts and interlinking them? Pingbacks pass index, and Page Rank so would it be necessary to include links to other posts within posts?
