Default Link Management Assistant - anyone tried it?

Has anyone tried Link Management Assistant?

http://www.onlinemarketingtoday.com/...nk-management/

It's a free link management tool that uses the DMOZ directory to build links on your site.

Just wondered if anyone has tried it and whether you think it is worth trying?

Thanks
Jakki

Its awesome and very powerfull if configured correctly.

Problem is it is another script and I can guarantee that most wouldnt be able to do the installation and configuration needed to run it.

I have used it in the past though.

I am looking for an easier solution for 90 DC members.

The easiest I can see thus far is for members to create another base blog using the installer and put it in a new folder called resources or something like that.

Then use linkmarket or linkmetro to gain links.

Build your categories as you would any other blog, and just make a post for the link. I actually really like the idea as it ads each link to its own page which is in-turn fully optimized.

If you are smart about it and modify titles of posts and add some additional text about the site it will be a great little traffic earner.

Thanks
Marc

Hello,

I installed this script, and though frustrating at first, now that I know how to do it, I'll be able to on all my blogs.

You can view it here: http://www.fullbodymassageonline.com...rces/directory

would you care to share how you did it?

Thanks

Well,

After punching my computer a few times and having the inclination to throw my cpu through the window... everything was fine.

Nah, it was frustrating, but after you get it, it will make the rest of the installations simpler.

I basically followed the directions exactly the way they are written in the manual.

Here they are:

1) Unzip the lma.zip file.

2) Create a folder in the root directory of your website server
(usually public_html) called "lma" or anything you like. This is where
the application files will reside. CHMOD this folder 0777.

3) Upload the 9 application files to this directory.

4) Upload the templates folder and its contents to this directory.

5) Upload the help folder and its contents to this directory.

6) Upload the pr-images folder and its contents to this directory.

7) CHMOD the "directory" file and admin.php file 0755

8) CHMOD the "templates" and "help" folders 0777.

8) CHMOD the install.php & settings.php file 0777.

9) Run the install.php file from your browser & follow the
instructions...

http://www.yoursite.com/lma/install.php

The most annoying thing is getting all the permissions right. Also, you have to set up a MYSQL database, like you do for the wordpress install. When you get to the install, it's pretty self-explanatory.

Customizing it is a different story... but that also will get easier after you do it once.

I'm no expert, this was my first time installing the script, so if I can do it, I'm sure anyone can.

Hope this helps,

Kenny

HI Kenny

Thanks for that.

That's exactly what I did but when I browse to mydomain/lma/install.php

I get a sorry not found message on my blog.

The directory is there if I browse to mydomain/lma so not sure what I am doing wrong.

I thought maybe it was a wordpress issue as some people on the users forum seem to be having problems.

If you can throw any light on it that would be most useful, are you using the 90 day template?

Thanks
Jakki

Hi Kenny,

Well done!!

I've gotten the script installed but it is the next part I'm having problems with

I have gone through all the settings but for the life of me I can't get it to show up on the WP blog.

When I enter the URL, I get the page okay but the message "looking for something that is not there"

Can you tell me how you got it to show up on your blog?
I have installed the LMA into the add-on domain for that particular WP blog

It is like that saying, so near yet so far. I feel I'm just missing something obvious.

Thanks for your help

Hi Carm,

I had the same issue, but when I changed the file attributes of the directory (not the install file) to 755 it all worked.

Good Luck

Mike

Thanks Mike, I've done that and still no joy.

Coffee, chocolate and clear the head time I think oops! no it's food shopping time, that really clears the head haha .

I'm at the stage, I've tried so many things I think I'll have to start over.

I was so pleased with myself for getting the installation of the script done, I thought that would be the hard part.

I'll let you know how I go with it.

Thanks

Hello,

The site above is not on wordpress, it's just a static page. All I did was add the css and html to the directory... it was pretty annoying. Once you get it, though, you can do it for all your blogs...
