Default Trouble Setting Up First Blog

I am having trouble setting up my first blog.

Using the new installer, I am able to load my directories with know problem.

I ticked on the public_html select button and typed in my blog url: Index of /

When I click on the "Check Details" button I get this message:

"It appears as though you already have something installed in your directory, please ensure that all files are deleted before attempting to create an install"

I really don't understand the message?

Can anyone please advise?

-Will

It means that there is already something in that directory.

FTP in and see what files are in the public_html directory and if they are not needed, delete them and try again.

Default why are there

Hello,
Why are there wordpress file in your root??? That is the problem. You are installing to spa something, so why do you have wp files in the root. Do you have a blog already??? I think that is the problem.

Post Had Same Problem

I remember once chosen public_html folder, but forgot to choose domain's directory so all of my files uploaded to public_html.

This is when WordPress installer told me that files could not be uploaded, because there were already some.

Had to do some cleaning, but i was lucky not to have blog under public_html or otherwise it would be overwritten.

Hello Steve

Yes, I have a blog already set up. It's my own personal blog.

Let me break everything down from start to were I am at now.

I downloaded 2 plr packs from plr pro, one on acne and one on spa's.

I then ordered both my domain names from 1and1.com and had them added/transfered to my hosting at D9hosting.com which is where my personal blog is hosted.

I tried uploading the acne pack with the original installer but I was having problems so I decided to use fantastico through D9 hosting to get it set up instead. Which I did, but soon realized how tedious it is just to install all the plugins, widgets, etc, etc.

So I decided to try out the installer again, the new one, with my second plr pack, spa treatments. Which I am having problems with and lead me here to the forums today.

What do you recommened I do??

I think you should have the new domain name and created a new folder with this new domain name.

When you use CPanel to add the new domain, a new folder would automatically be created. You then use the installer to install Wordpress to this new folder and not public_html.

Since your public_html already contains your existing blog files, installing another set of Wordpress files would cause the problem.

I understand now.

So I create a new folder inside my public_html folder and install my wordpress blog inside that folder.
