I am having a really hard time coming up with domain names in areas with a lot of competition. Does anyone have any suggestions.

I was trying to get the domain name freegascards and ended up using Free-GasCards.com

When a niche is popular a lot of domains are already taken you have to get creative. Some thing you can also try is to use the word best in front of whatever you are trying to get.

For instance, i have a site www.bestmyspace-layouts.com This is a combination of using a describing word and the hyphen.

You can also use a combination of keywords for you domain name.

For example:

dog.com is already taken.

Try trainingdog.com

If training dog is already taken try trainingyourdog.com

If that is taken try trainingforyourdog.com

Just build upon long tailed keywords and combine them together, but try to make your domain name as short as possible and make sure that your domain name or part of its keywords is searched on Google for better search engine optimization.
