Can’t select database

We were able to connect to the database server (which means your username and password is okay) but not able to select the badbreathadvisor database.

* Are you sure it exists?
* On some systems the name of your database is prefixed with your username, so it would be like username_wordpress. Could that be the problem?

If you don't know how to setup a database you should contact your host. If all else fails you may find help at the WordPress Support Forums.

OK.

I tried a different browser - I was using firefox so I changed to Slimbrowswer and it looked like the Installer worked - at least I got through to the end which matched the video "MySQL Importing To Server...".

Further checking required.

I owe it all to Hyman.

Thankyou, Hyman. Your post where you mentioned switching from Firefox to Slimbrowser was the key.

wp_admin doesn't work. It doesn't show in Index of/.

I cannot access wp_admin.

Did something wrong, again. I did get error messages on setting up directories so back to the drawing board.

Smile installer fails

HI,
I've had the same problem, however, I don't think its' the installer. What I did was go back to my database and delete it and then recreate it. I also double checked on the UN for the database. Then did a reinstall and it worked. Another error I made was in the url address, I forgot to add/blog to the end and also in the ftp section. Anyway, I got this error several times before I figured out what I was doing wrong, so you're not alone. Just go back to the beginning if you have to and start again.good luck.

Hi Limon,
No, it isn't the Installer, it's the browser that screws up.

WP kept telling me that it couldn't select my DB, but the db name was one I never used. When I changed to Slimbrowser, Installer no longer posted that msg.

But now when I post an article and hit publish, the article never apears on the page when I click View Post.

Default database error

Hello,
This is a database error. If you do a search for bigdump you will find a lot of post that may help you.
What I read is, if you are using the same database name over and over, this is going to cause you problems. Make sure after you delete the database that you chose a NEW NAME for the database. This may help you. Also read the post under bigdump. There was also a comment about not having the trailing "/" at the end caused some problems. Check it out under search.
Steve

Good to hear. I use Firefox and had challenges with the installer so I am installing Slim Browser.
