Default Uploader Problem-Help Needed

Hello everyone.

Just posted this over on the PLRpro Forum as well...

I'm new to the site, having just signed up to PLRpro and the
90DC. Now I'm having a nightmare with the blog installer and
need some help.

I'm diligently following the 90DC plan, but seem to have
fallen at the first technology fence.

I apologise in advance if this post is a bit on the long side!

I tried out the blog installer last night and after a lot of
hassle managed to get it to install the files. But then I
couldn't see anything, because I got error messages saying the
database couldn't be accessed.

I contacted my Hosting Support desk who suggested, "Please
make sure that you have placed the correct database details in
the configuration file of the wordpress script"

I checked the Wp-config.php file after downloading it and
found no details had been filled in by the installer. I filled
these in and uploaded the config.php file again, but all I got
then was the standard Wordpress template. Not the PLRpro
Theme I've seen others here using successfully.

So I deleted the standard files and tried the installer again.
Now it's telling me my Database is not empty. I checked the
database contents through Filezilla and the Host file manager.
The only file that keeps appearing is one called: conn.php

I clear that out and try again, but no joy. The PLRpro
installer keeps telling me the database is not empty.

Now I'm very frustrated and need help. I've manually
installed Wordpress blogs before with no problems, but this
installer is confusing me.

Is the PLRpro theme available for manual install? Can I
upload it myself using an FTP programme? Has anyone else had
this problem before and how did you solve it?

Please understand I'm not to much of a Techie on the Server
side of things, so if you can explain stuff to me like your
teaching a six year old, then that would be perfect!

Default sql database

Hello,
Did you create an sql database like the video says??? The best thing is to have two windows open one for the installer and one for the video and just go step by step....

Hi Steve,

Thanks for replying, great to get your view on things.

Yeah, I did create a MySQL database as the video said, plus I went through it step by step as you advised. Everything seemed to go OK till the actual install, the bit where it goes off and uploads everything, then it didn't quite go as per the video!

I got the page up where it tells you it's uploading to the directory - then nothing else after that. it just seemed to hang there for well over an hour. No page to say that the install was complete.

As I say, the files uploaded to my Host, but no PLRpro theme, just the standard Wordpress theme.

I tried again today by deleting the first database and creating a brand new one, but still the same thing happened.

I'm baffled (but what's new!).

Default I still think

I still think that you have something wrong. You are entering something just a bit wrong. Maybe a space somewhere, a trailing / that is not there, something. I have never had a problem with the installer, except when I entered something wrong.

Hi Whitecliffs,
I seem to be stuck with exactly the same problems as you (and gone down a similar route to get there).
If I can get a breakthrough with the answer I'll post you asap.
Best of luck

That doesn't sound like you deleted the database?

Sounds like you just deleted the files. You will need to go back to mySQL and empty or better still, completely remove and recreate the database and try the install again.

Default Uploader Problem Update

Hi Pano,

Just a quick update about my uploading problem and how I got round it.

As suggested, I went into my Hosting account and deleted the MySQL database.

I then created a new database and uploaded as per the videos, double checking everything.

The uploader still 'hung' and did not return a page telling me the upload had been completed, like it does on the videos.

However, when I checked the domain using my ftp programme, I found all the files HAD been uploaded.

So I input my domain/wp-admin and completed the Wordpress install.

At first I was disappointed that the theme was the standard Wordpress theme and not the PLRpro one.

But then the penny dropped and I checked the 'Themes' page and found the two PLRpro themes. I clicked one and checked the site and it was all there.

That's how I managed to get round the problem I was having.

I'm about to upload the second site with the uploader, so I'll see how that goes.

Hey Whitecliffs,

Today I encounter a same problem as yours.
Actually I don't have problem with the installer, but I like to learn and explore more. I've tried both, manually and the installer. I install WP2.6 for manual. But today I realize that the latest version didn't support some of the plugins, so i decide to downgrade it to 2.3 as provided by the installer.
Using Ftp client, I delete all the WP2.6 files inside. After I emptied the folder, I opened the installer and stuck at steps 2. "Database is not empty" shown. I check my hosting file and theres only one file name conn.php. I delete it and try again, Its still same. I checked again and the file conn.php still there no matter how many times I delete it. So, from there I figured out that, Database file is not same with hosting file. What you emptied actually only hosting folder not your database.
To empty your database, log in to your MyPhpadmin panel, select all table and from drop down menu choose DROP. It will emptied your Database.

regards
AJ

Hi AJ,

Thanks for the post.

I'll try that as well. I get round the problem by completely deleting the Database and then create a new one.

I tried the uploader again with my second site, but it still doesn't work 100% for me.

I now upload as far as I can, then do the rest manually.

I'm lucky I've leaned enough (self taught) to get over these problems, but it must be a nightmare for anyone with limited knowledge and experience on the more technical side of things.

I can see how it can be really frustrating to be urged to sign up for this site, and then the basics don't work when you get here.

Let's hope the "Big Green Button" delivers.
