| According to many talks of other people about creating websites, i understand that they consider that creating website can be "set&forget" stuff. They think it is so easy that buying a domain name and putting a website should be enough so they can start same thing with other websites. What they forget is PROMOTION. If it was so easy just to put up a websites and then "set&forget" them, then everybody would be profitable soon. I often see a lot of nice looking websites hanging on the internet, but none of them seem to have backlinks! This matter should be taken seriously as SEO really takes time. Finally it can be "set&forget" when you invested enough time in your site promotion.

| Hello, I am just curious, with your little talk about promotion and how important it is, why don't you have any sites in your signature??? All I see is an affiliate product that is promotion for someone else's site. Although you make money or you would not have it. But shouldn't you be promoting your website in your sig line if this promotion you speak about is so important. You get a link back from the the forum, is this not good enough?? I am just wondering, thats all. Seems that every post has some affiliate link that you are promoting and that is not what this forum is about, at least it wasn't when I started. If you have an affiliate link on your site, then send them to your site to click on your link. I am almost sure that if you want to promote an affiliate link, that you are supposed to have one with and one without the affiliate id. But I will check on this. Sorry for the rant, but I am seeing this more and more and I have been to blame as well in the past, so I am not exempt from doing this myself in the past. But was warned by several people about the two link rule, right Dewald???? Steve |

| Read this if you didn't. I don't waste my time and only promote from sites which have rel="nofollow" attribute disabled. What is the point of having your sites in your signature file if it has rel="nofollow" attribute? This doesn't make me anything and it is at my sole discretion to list my sites.

| The rel="nofollow" attribute as I understand it. Along comes a spider and sees the "nofollow" this tells the spider you can follow the link but you are not to pass any PR value to it. If you are only after the PR value then fine, then you probably wouldn't add a link to the site. However if you still add links to site that have the "nofollow" attribute Google will start thinking "Hmmm Boris is around a fair bit". You may not get PR value but Google will take notice of you. This in itself is valuable.

| I would agree. The other day I did a search on a particular wordpress error on google, and the link pointed to this forum. This particular forum script (vBSEO) does exceptionally well when getting indexed by google also. Getting one way links with the proper anchor text in forums like this one, does well when getting ranked for linkbacks and trackbacks. Last edited by bjsmooths : 04-12-2008 at 07:15 PM. |

| hehe yes it is very nice. This forum actually gets quite a few very specific searches from google to do with wordpress. And many sites show up a listing from here also if you end up talking about your site. Regards Marc |
