| I decided I would change the background image used for the pages of the smoking ebook. I couldn't find a way of changing all the pages in one go, so I had to change each page individually, which was tedious to say the least! Does anyone know of an easier way. I'm using Word 2000. Also when I open the doc file in Open Office to convert it to PDF the background images were not displaying properly. They were fine up to about page 25 and then some would be missing or there were two on one page. To see if it was something I had done I opened the original unaltered doc file in Open Office and it had exactly the same problem. Has anyone else come across this problem? or is it just me? Are the doc files checked in Open Office first? As this is the way suggested to convert the files to PDF. If I'd realised how much trouble this was going to be, I'm not sure I'd of started... but now I have, I want to get it to work! Seb

| Ditto As a web designer, I wouldn't waste the time trying to make changes to an existing template. It is easier to just make your own set of templates for each topic if you have the skill and time. Changing the copy is needed on everything. That fills your time up quickly so if you don't know how to do project management - follow the 90-day plan or get a project management book (beware they talk about teams but you will use outsourcing at some point). Doing the 5 steps, knowing what a WBS is and doing one for each niche really helps you create a business plan for this niche. Finally, if you do change the graphics on anything the only real way to do this with some time management in place is if you are a web designer and create everything NEW (said this at the beginning). Start with your own design etc. Now to the EBOOK and other materials that we don't see unless we on buying from one another. The Ebook can have a whole new cover made for it in Photohop if you know how. Then when you bundle it again you just use that cover. I use 1-click covers. I PS you can also create a complete html template for the website/blog too that all match the book. This is a lot of work. Anyones' time might be better spent using the graphics, changing the copy and then doing quality SEO/PPC to see if you get buyers. If you do then upgrade your design. Next how to modify the Ebook - this is step 10 in the emails. You can't unless you want to change out the entire table of contents. So what to do! The guys give you the answer in that email. Add material from other sources. These become bonus chapters - easy to add to the table of content, or additional chapters you decide. Trying to change out the copy itself means you must keep the word count exactly the same or be prepared to recreate the table of contents. Working in word and even open office creates extra characters. I recommend Notetab PRO. It's about $30.00 IMHO it is good to modify/rewrite as much as you can though maybe 50% of the people are doing so. Good luck! D~ PS you are right it takes a lot of time. Pick what you are good at changing and do that. Learn something new to change every book or every month. The more you change the less it 'looks' like an affiliate product in the publics eye; and the more it becomes yours. ![]() |

| I decided not to change the contents of the ebook for some of the reasons you mentioned, but also as the audio's would then not match the book. Instead I though I'd change the graphics around a bit which was when I hit this problem. I've just checked the Infertility book and that seems to be fine in Open Office. Maybe it's just the smoking book. I've included a screenshot below to help explain what I mean. The problem starts after page 27. Seb

[end quote] Seb, I don't see an answer to your problem ( unless it's different from mine). I have changed the name of the ebook and modified the front cover psd file without any problem. But I don't know how to change the background graphic containing the text in the Word file. Or, more accurately, how to re-assemble the text with the new BG graphic. Can someone please point me in the right direction here ? Chris |
