keywords lists - a basic question

I don't think i've ever seen this asked or answered, and the search page of this forum appears not to like my typing input. How often do you update your keyword lists? As keywords become increasingly targeted by marketers or new trends come up it seems one should refresh their lists. How frequently (if at all) do any of you do this?

Hello,
When I do my keyword research, I end up with thousands of keywords using wordtracker and kra. With this many keywords I have plenty of phrases that will last me a lifetime. I just chose the ones that I can rank for quickly. Many searches >10 and low competition<1000.
