Default Adsense tracking on all ads or just one

Hi all,

I have a question about tracking adsense clicks.

Last night I had 4 clicks on the ads on my first blog.

When I looked at my adsense tracker I couldn't see the clicks.

Is it possible that the different parts of the wordpress blog are considered as seperate templates.

I only added the tracker code to the 'leader with random image'

Does somebody know how to use the trackercode better?

Not absolutely sure, as I've never added astracker to a blog before...

I would look at all the template files and find out where the Adsense is going in each, and ensure that the tracking code is put in each one after the code. (For example the page template and the main template)

Cheers
Fiona

I think that's a good idea Fiona.

Thank you,

Wouldn't the best place to put the AS Tracker code be in the footer? This way it would track every page and post...

I'm not sure...the instructions for astracker (as I remember) say to put it just after the last piece of Adsense code on each page.

However, putting it in the footer might work...

Cheers

Thanks for the replies people.

I put my tracker code just under the adsense code because I wanted to follow the instructions of the adsense tracker.

But if your experience is that it works with the code in the footer, then I'll do that -->it will make things much easier.

Thanks,

belgian

Hi

The instructions are definately to put the astracker code only once, on the page, after the last time your adsense code appears. I haven't done it with a blog yet so dont' know if it would work in the footer.

From using it with other static sites I do know, however, that astracker does not pick up all the visits or clicks. Sometimes there are visits and clicks that appear in my adsense channels that do not appear with astracker. And vice versa. Sometimes I appear to have visits and clicks on sites that don't even have my code on them! That's just the way it is. I spent a lot of time trying to get it "right" in the early days and understand why these things were happening. Now I accept it's just one of those software things.

Also, I suspect astracker and adsense channels are report from different timezones so there will never be an exact match.

The data you do get is really useful, however. It's just not perfect.

Not sure if that's helpful. I suppose, all I'm saying, is don't be surprised when astracker and your adsense channels "say" slightly different things.

Hi Gillian,

Yes, I do see some of those 'strange' things happening, such as clicks in adsense channels , but not in astracker.

But, I'll have to rely on other people's experiences to know what works best.

Thanks for sharing your experience.

Default Which is the last adsense block

Hi

I'm trying to work out which is the last adsense block so I only put the astracker code on the page once. I can see where the blocks "adsense" and "adsense#rect" go but I dont' see "adsense#main". Does anyone know where that adsense block appears?

Thanks
Gillian
