Default Amazon E-Commerce ID

In the installer it asks for an Amazon E-Commerce ID. What is this and where can I get it? I looked at the site but can't find it. I have the normal Amazon tracking ID but can't work out where to get an E-Commerce one.

thanks
Gillian

Hi Gillian,

Leave that eCommerce ID box blank. If you put anything at all in that box, you won't get the Amazon plug-in to work, it will bring up zero results for any searches you do. Leaving it blank brings up a default ID that Marc has included in the install.

I have a question about this that I need help with.

If I leave the default in the esubscription field:
change_amazonsubid

OR

I remove it so that the field is empty

If I click on 'Insert content from Amazon' when I am writing a post, I get a product page that says

Not Found Sorry, but you are looking for something that isn't here.

Am I missing something? My Amazon affiliate ID is where it should be.

Can anyone help?
Thanks
Jakki

Hi Jakki

I'm not sure what you mean, so I'll let you know what I did.

When installing the first site, I had problems and not being sure what exactly was causing them, I filled in all the boxes. As I didn't have an eCommerce ID I ended up just putting a few Xs in that box. I then did this on all my sites.

The Amazon link wouldn't bring up any results when I was posting, got a similar message to you, I think it brought back zero results.

I went into options and then Amazon and deleted the Xs then updated and left it.

Next time I tried to use the Amazon link on a post, it worked and when I went back into Options, there was an eCommerce Subscription ID in the box I had emptied.

I have re-installed 2 sites since Marc did the update, so I have 2 with the old install and 2 with the new,

so 2 I installed with the Xs (which I removed in the WP Options) and 2 that I left the box empty when installing and they all now have the eCommerce Subscription ID

Hope I've explained it okay and hope it helps
