Default Homepage question, part deux

Hi folks,

This is somewhat related to a prior topic.

On my previous Niche Wordpress sites, I have used a 'page manager' plugin to allow me to have a kind of an introductory front page.

I would love to get an 'official opinion' on whether, for this project, it would be more effective to just use the natural home-page-is-your-most-recent-post setup, or setup a static front page.

I am open to either way, if there are advantages the Big Guys see one way or another.

I like the idea,

Shoot me the plugin and I'll test it out play with it.

Means you could have an introduction / large affiliate review as your front page, with consistant content through the tagging and category system.

PM me the plugin if you can.

I havent played with it yet but I'll test it out.

Thanks
Marc

I have used this plugin before to create a static front page, there may be more than one plugin that does it, but the one I got to work was Filosofo Home Page control (I think I tried another but couldn't get it to work as easily)

You'll find it here: http://www.ilfilosofo.com/blog/home-page-control

This may be one to add to the list of Plugins, Marc. People could always activate it if they want to use it and deactivate it if they don't.

Cheers
Fiona

Hi everyone,

New to the crowd and glad to be here!

I just finished playing with the plugin mentioned in the above post but it acted very strange. Probably because the theme being used here has a home page link already present. Find a way to disable the home link and the plugin may work. Beyond my abilities.

An option - not really a good one - is the adhesive plugin. It makes a post "sticky", which translates it will remain as the top post and all subsequent posts will fall under it. Make sense?

The download for adhesive does not seem to be working right now. I can set up a download page for anyone wanting a copy of the plugin. Let me know here and I'll keep checking back.

I really wanted to find if there is any new info to pass along about a static type homepage. Any smoke and fume emitting from the laboratory?
