Default How to make Wordpress my homepage / index?

Hello folks,

I installed my first WordPress blog at
www.mysite.com/blog

how to I make the blog go to
www.mysite.com ?

Right now my homepage mysite.com has a list of the files in my account.

Also, on my wordpress blog on the right there is a section that says "Recommended" and under that is an image and text that says "Our #1 Wedding Invitation Shop" that links to another website. I don't know where to edit the Recommened category

Thank you!

Mike

Hi Mike,

The easiest way would be to redirect you visitors using a 301 redirect.

This explains how. : http://www.webweaver.nu/html-tips/web-redirection.shtml

As for the recommended change. Marc has done a video on exactly what you need to do.

Default Question on Installing Second site

Thank you Robert, I really appreciate your help.

Now I am having trouble uploading the blog to my second site.

I created www.2ndSite.com and it is set up in my cpanel.

I am using the blog installer program...

I am using ftp.maindomain.com

For "Desired Directory of installation" what do I do?

Do I select "public_html" then select "2ndsite" ?

Or do I create a new file under "2ndsite" and call it blog?

And then is the blog URL http://www2ndsite.com/
or is it http://www.2ndsite.com/blog/

Is the "Database Name" the same for the first site and second site?

Thank you in advance for your help!

Mike

If you have your domains setup as add-on domains each one should have it's own ftp.

So you should put in the url of the new sites (ftp.yournewsite.com). That also should help you install you second blog because when you ftp into the new domain you should have a new empty public_html folder.

Is it important that you use the public_html folder as shown in the video? I didn't have a folder like that in my domain so I just used another folder (one I created). Do I need to create a folder called public_html to make the installer work without errors?
