Default It doesn't look like you've installed WP yet????

Does anyone know how to overcome the following problem:

Went to put up my 3rd site today and encountered this problem:

It doesn't look like you've installed WP yet. Try running install.php.

Its funny because i didn't have this problem setting up the other 2 sites?

Does this have anything to do with the new installer or is it a different problem?

Your help will be much appreciated...

I am having exactly the same problem.

Also, it seems to be installing into the wrong folder. I have
had one in www and the other in an ftp folder despite
carefully using the button to select the public_html
folder.

I also used the previous system with no problems.

Regards - Dave

I don't know if this will help you but when I got that message I had to go back and delete the database and start over by adding a new one.

when I got to the Desired Directory of Installation, I didn't click on the radio button at the plblic_html, just clicked on public_html to open up the files, then I used the radio button to select the file and it worked.

I was installing in an add-on domain but a sub-domain would be the same I think

Check that you don't have any spaces anywhere, either before or after each entry, particularly if you copy and paste your info into the install

The program is very space sensitive

Check the database in your MyphpAdmin, if there is nothing in it, then delete database and start again.

I do know that it was always something I was doing or not doing when I had problems, so keep trying, I know it can get frustrating, hang in there.

Default Still having problems

Hi Carm,

I did go and delete the whole database and folder within public_html and re installed it again, but still had the same problem.

The problem is that its not installing the wordpress that marc configured with all the plugins, because when i clicked on install.php it took me to the wordpress sign up area and when you login, its like an empty shell with no plugins configured and is the basic version of wordpress.

Then i thought id have a go and see whether my 4th domain would install properly with the installer and no problems, it all loaded fine. Weird hey???

I did that install.php thingie too.

Yep, it sounds weird, I know, but with your 4th domain installing fine then there is just some little thing with this one.

What you need to do now is,

take a deep breath,
brew your coffee/tea,
grab some chocolate, cake or something indulgent like that
take a break and then

Start all over again.
because I could have sworn I did 'exactly' the same thing when mine installed after problems as I was doing all along but one time I had left the / tail off the blog URL and that was all it was, another time I had a space before the database username eg username_ blog1
instead of username_blog1

They were only little things but they were the cause.

Good luck with it dazkat, let's know how you go

Thanks for sticking with us Carmel. I know I'm a wimp
but it's nearly midnight here in the UK so I'm going to
start afresh tomorrow.

I still can't get Wordpress to install. Still getting the same errors
detailed in the first two posts.

This time I deleted the database and reinstalled it. Deleted the old
wordpress install from public_html and reinstalled it.

I followed the video step by step and there were definitely no gaps
in the boxes.

I've no doubt that as you say I'm doing something wrong but I've
gone over and over it and I'm stuck.

Once again, any suggestions gratefully received!

Havendel
