Unhappy Error: Connection to FTP server failed.

Hi.
I'm trying to install wordpress using the installer (for hours...like 40 times) and I can't get past the ftp part. I keep getting the error
"Error: Connection to FTP server failed."
I've gone through and read all of the other posts looking for answers, only thing is...I'm not logging in to a sub domain, I am using the right username and password, and I even switched over and tried with internet explorer..and I still can't get it to work. I can log in with my ftp program though.
Can anyone help?

Hi,

I just used installer - no problem.

Are you using an addon domain name-won't work. You need main domain name, not addon.

Next, is user name correct?

I had same problem - was using wrong password.

not using add on domain
name and pass correct- just tested with ftp program.
ftp - ftp.mydomain.com (no space after)
user name
pass

I don't get it. When it is trying to connect it takes a while..then comes back with same error.
I shut down firewall & anti spyware just in case they were interfering. cleared my cache, rebooted, when into my cpanel and ftp manager to double checked to see if anything looked weird.
I've tried everything.
I haven't thrown my computer out the window yet.
ugh...just tried again. same error.

I just posted with same problem ...only I hired a webmaster(really good)to try and he couldn't do it either...so something's going on here that's not our doing....someday we might fine out but don't hold your breath(I've been at it for over three weeks!)

Default Are you sure

I have just upload it 2 times today, are you sure that you are putting in your right ftp info it has to be just like as if you had something like coffee cup ftp, go and make sure you have everything just right that your host gave you when you signed up to who ever is hosting you. I am not saying that you don't have that info now but believe me just one number or letter off can make you go nuts.
When I first started I had one letter missing in my pass word
and I tried for a week.

Good Luck

I'm not sure about anything...I'm glad yours is working, meanwhile I'm taking a course for the incredibly inept. And I'm slowly getting it.Some of us, just bit off more than we can chew. My advice to all with this problem is don't give up.Go do it another way and before you know it Marc and Daniel will figure this out.And a blogging we will go.
