Default In need of guidance please

Hi,

I have registered a new domain and hosted it with Hostgator using cpanel under `adons`.

Now as I understand this, it is a domain which points to a sub domain in my Hostgator account but will present itself as a url that will look like an ordinary www.xxxxx.com.

Will this effect the way I input to the WP installer fields?

I have tried installing it by inputting as an ordinary domain www.xxxxx.com, or will it need to shown as sub domain.

I use cute ftp usually and when I look in there all the folders seem to be in the right place - under public_html and the installer indicates a good upload but I am not getting my domain to load as I would expect, nor can I get into WP admin.

Also the domain name I registered shows with a website that appears to be a directory. Why should this be showing - cellulite home treatment fitness kegel at homecellulitetreatments.com - I`ve used the email there`s but no reply.

If someone could give some advice here it would be much appreciated.

Thanks

Laurence

PS the phrase linked with the cellulite url above -"cellulite home treatment fitness Kegel at...etc" was added to my url after I did a preview.

Why?

I don't use hostgator but from the whois of homecellulitetreatments.com it looks like it is still using:
dns1.name-services.com
dns2.name-services.com
dns3.name-services.com
dns4.name-services.com
dns5.name-services.com

They seem to be passing your page to a parked page, Try changing them to whatever dns servers your other domain uses that is parked with HostGator and I'll be that works everything out.

Default Did it work?

Hello

Did that fix your problem, changing the dns servers? That was a great fix for sure. Let us know if that was the problem?
thanks and good luck,
Steve

Hi Golfer,

Do you really want to hear my tales of woe - it`s
much appreciated if you do.

Yes that solved that particular problem, thanks - but!

You asked for it

Getting in to my registry panel at Hostgator proved
impossible yesterday - many emails went between
me and their support so domain and password are all
correct - they changed the name servers for me. This
morning I tried again and I was able to get in.... hurray.

Now the problem I am struggling with is that having
used the plrpro installer which seems a successful
upload from what I am reading, I punch in my url -
homecellulitetreatments.com - and I am taken to a
Hostgator Error 404 page.

When I add wp-admin it just takes me to folders.

The returned `successful upload` page does not look
like the page that is on the video, it is my Error 404
page - the part in the scrolling screen area that is.

I have sent an email to the address on the page so
I am just waiting.

If you can through any light on this I would appreciate
it.

Simple is such a relative word - don`t you think

Laurence

PS... my domain is an `adon` in the Hostgator cpanel
if that makes any difference.

Default check this out...

Hello,

Not sure if this is going to help but thought that it might. Check this post out Bigdump file not found? and see if this will help you.

I had the same problem recently with a new site. Tried all sorts.

Eventually got to live chat with my host. They soon sussed it was a problem wth the dns at their end and sorted it in five minutes. 15 minutes later the site was up and running.

Give your host a call or submit a ticket. Its worth a go.
