New database for every install?

Hi,

Can anyone tell me if a new database has to be created for every site installation? I've managed to put up my first site successfully, but I'm not sure if I have to create a new database for my second site and subsequent sites.

Also in filling out the wordpress installer what information do I need to put into the FTP Host Name, User Name and FTP Pass Word. Should this be the information from the main site or addon sites.

My second site installation gives me this error "blog_uname" value not set. Please set it. Any ideas, please.

Hey Ralph,

If you are using an addon domain then you would usually enter the ftp details from your main domain.

Then for the BaseDir you would enter

/public_html/youraddondomain/

or if you wanted it in a folder on your add-on domain

/public_html/youraddondomain/blogfolder

And yes you need a new database for each site.

The Blog Uname

Did you enter all the details in the rest of the form?

We have just got back the revised installer that gives you a visual folder selection. So no more guessing with where your BaseDir is, you can just select it by looking and clicking.

Much nicer.

It will be up tomorrow after I have had time to do video's on it and test it again.
