Default Trouble With New Installer

The new installer has presented me with a problem in not being able to set the install directory properly.
I use Reseller Zoom for my sites and when setting up domains the directory defaults to something like: /home/abbreviateddomainname/public_html
when I use an ftp client, this is the directory I point to and I access it easily. However when I go to /home/ and look for the abbreviatedname indicated above, it is not visible! I changed the preferences to "show hidden files" but still nothing shows up. I even tried to create the directory but receive the message "Cant create directory, file alraeady exits".

All this means that I can't point to the correct directory when using WP Installer.

Any tips on this one. Am I completely stupid? ops:

Hi Mike,

I know your frustration been there and it was always something I was doing or not doing.

Those warnings are only because the files are already installed, they just look scarey and Marc told me not to worry about them.

On the updated installation, I found when it came to the directory, I clicked the box, I then went to public_html and clicked on that, not the radio button,
it then opened up the files, I clicked on the radio button for the add-on domain I wanted and that was it. Sub and add-on domains, same thing.

It is also very important that you don't leave any spaces, Marc shows how to make sure in the new video for the install.

I found when I got to the hair pulling stage, I deleted the database, made a coffee, got some chocolate, a few deep breaths and started over very calmly and it went fine.

Hope this helps, chocolate does wonders :-D red wine comes when the install is a success.

Default Installer Problem Resolved

I have reached an epiphany. A watershed. Nirvana of FTP. Total enlightenment!

I have proven to myself a few truths:

1. I cannot work until 4.00am and remain clear headed.
2. I must not assume I am automatically meticulous.
3. I must check everything three times or more.

Seriously, I discovered hidden files in a few folders from previous things I had done. Once I removed them, everything was fine.

Yes those early mornings really can take a tole.

Some mornings when I really for the life of me can't work something out. I then have a sleep, wake up and look at the problem and its obvious what it was.

lol

We really should take care of our sleeping patterns more, lol

Regards
Marc
